LT10 Surgical Magnetic Mat

A new study shows that surgical magnetic drapes cause magnetic interference on cardiac pacemakers

Longueuil, Quebec, Canada – MENODYS announces that the March 2013 edition of Anesthesia & Analgesia (2013, 116:555-9) presents the results of a recent study showing the magnetic interferences caused by magnetic surgical drapes on patients wearing pacemakers during surgical procedures. The study, headed by Dr. Louis-Philippe Fortier, chief of anesthesiology at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, a University of Montreal affiliated center, measured magnetic interferences of commercially available magnetic surgical drapes on the pacemaker of 47 of the 50 patients included in the study. MENODYS has developed and commercializes the LT10G MagMat, a new patent pending surgical magnetic drape specifically designed for not interfering with electronic implants worn by patients. Magnetic drapes are used by surgeons to keep surgical instruments close to the operating site.
